September is childhood cancer month

Hi everyone, today I wanted to talk about something very important. As many of you know, last month was September, and September is childhood cancer month. It is a very emotional month and I think more people should be aware of what people advocate about childhood cancer.

I follow a family on Instagram, who lost their four-year-old daughter named Ellie and it was very heartbreaking watching their story over Instagram. I don’t know them personally, but I can tell they are a very strong family and that Ellie had a very strong and sweet spirit.

Sadly, childhood cancer only gets 4% of funding from cancer research. I wonder why childhood cancer only gets 4% funding when it is the most common death by disease for Canadian children. I am not just advocating for Canadian children, but children all over the world who have been victims of this horrible disease.

My heart truly aches for these children and their families, I don’t think anyone could truly imagine the pain of these children and their loved ones, God forbid. Some of these families have a hard time financially being able to finance cancer treatments, not only that but they have to take time off work to take care of their child. That is why I encourage everyone to do research on cancer and be aware of what is going on, I know one day we can and will find a cure for this horrible ugly disease that is affecting adults and children alike.

One very important topic I wanted to talk about in my article, is this little boy named Preston. He is a little boy with cancer, and his family is asking for financial help with bills. I think they would ever so appreciate it everyone could give as much as they could to help. Please go to this link to donate: www.teamlillyfoundation.org/for-preston/

You guys, it would mean the world to me if you could donate to help Preston and his family. There are so many families that need our help. This disease is real and it is affecting individuals and families all over the world, people think they can turn a blind eye to it but cancer is evil.

Thank you, everyone.

My journey to Sri Lanka

Hi guys! I went to Sri Lanka over the summer and I wanted to share my experience with you! I wrote this article for my friend for his beach website, as I am the only person he knows who has been to Sri Lanka, which by the way has some of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see! I will put a link to his website below if you’re interested in looking at his website 🙂

Sri Lanka is one of those countries that brings you so much warmth that you’re filled to the brim with joy and peace. When I went there this past summer, it changed my perspective on a lot of things. People in North America stress too much about little things and let it ruin their day, I’m guilty of that sometimes too if we’re being completely honest. Feeling that ocean breeze and just relaxing on the beach brought me an immense amount of happiness and peace. People even catch live fish their and they can cook it there too, it is delicious. When you eat live fish compared to frozen or store-bought fish, you’ll never want to eat fish bought from the grocery store ever again. One of the beaches I went to was Galle Face Green beach. The entire Galle face strip was filled with thousands of people, tourists and local residents alike. The strip was filled with food vendors selling chicken. Fish, popcorn, nuts, etc. They were also selling souvenir items like magnets and t-shirts to name a few. When I went into the ocean I could immediately tell how salty the water was just by the smell and feel of the water. The current was so strong and the waves were getting bigger and bigger as the day went on. It’s not everyday one gets to be in the Indian ocean, and I was enjoying every bit of it. The beaches near the resorts were quite different compared to the Galle Face beach. The beaches in the resorts were breathtaking. One truly can’t even begin to imagine how beautiful these beaches were unless they’re there and experience it themselves. If you like tropical islands, then you will think this is paradise. The palm trees, the blue ocean, the beautiful light sand, I’ve been to Cuban beaches before that were beautiful but this was an entirely different breathtaking experience altogether. If you want to stay at a resort, there are a few options. You can stay at a resort hotel or you can stay in a villa. If you stay in a villa it is like staying in your own little house, it is really cool. Not to mention the food at the resorts was amazing. There are even beaches where you can go whale and dolphin watching! Unfortunately I never got to go whale and dolphin watching, but next time I go to Sri Lanka I will have to experience that. It’s a long trip to go to Sri Lanka from Canada, but it is well worth it. The food, the people, the atmosphere, everything is just amazing there. I love Canada, but Sri Lanka was a nice getaway from reality. As beautiful of a country, Canada is, the beaches in Canada are not comparable to the beaches in Sri Lanka. The warm deep blue water, the beautiful sand and the palm trees everywhere, the atmosphere is completely different. Sri Lanka is so filled with warm and kind people, and it just made the trip that much more special.

I hope you guys liked my article! I always have so much sharing stuff with you guys 🙂

The Nun

Hey guys, today I wanted to give my review of the movie The Nun. It’s a movie that is part of the conjuring series, a series that I’m a fan of. I love horror movies!

The movie starts off pretty spooky, with two nuns walking into a scary dark room in front of a door with the words “God ends here”. I’m not going to talk too much about what happens in the movie as to not spoil it for you guys. I think the movie is good, in all honesty, I wish there was a better backstory, but the movie was still scary. That demon nun is really scary, definitely something you see in your nightmares.

The movie is slightly humorous, which is always nice. Also, the lead actress in the movie Taissa Farmiga who plays sister Irene is sisters with the actress who plays Lorraine Warren, Vera Farmiga, in real life! Maybe in the next movie in the series they will connect the characters together, especially considering both their characters have visions, which is really cool. I’m sure the creators of the movie did that on purpose.

Overall, I think it was an entertaining movie, I was definitely a little scared driving back home alone after watching the movie in the theatres later in the night! I wish they made the storyline and the backstory a little more interesting but it was still a good movie, some scenes were really intense like the scene where all the nuns come together and pray, that was one of the really good scenes, if you watch the movie you’ll know why!

Thanks for reading guys! I would’ve talked a bit more about the movie but I don’t want to spoil it! I would love to hear your comments on the movie and whether you liked it or not! What were your favourite scenes?

Emotional health

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to talk about ways to ensure and heal your emotional health. Emotional health is just as important as mental, and physical health. These tips are things that I’ve learned throughout my life and that I’ve learned from other people. They may some obvious, but sometimes you just need to hear it.

1.  Cut out all the negative people in your life.

Guys, I can’t stress this enough. Cutting out negative people who bring you down creates a huge difference in your life. You’ll be surprised as to how much happier and freer you’ll feel. I know it’s hard but it will make you feel so much better

2.  Think positive

People who think negative thoughts are not going to have positive lives. When you change your thoughts, you change your life. Those who want different results, but are doing the same thing over and over again, are living in a world of insanity (I believe Albert Einstein said something along the same lines). If people truly realized the power of the brain, we would never want to think a negative thought again.

3.  Exercise

Exercise is not only good for your body, but it is good for your mind and soul. Exercising releases serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine which helps against the symptoms of stress and depression. Exercise is good for you overall and for every part of your well being.

I know these tips are simple guys but they change your life drastically. You’ll be surprised at how much better you feel about yourself and in general. Also, I am going to try to post at least once a week. Sorry for not posting as much, I will try to change that. Hope everyone had a great summer!

International Women’s Day!

Hey everyone! In light of International women’s day a few days ago, I wanted to talk about what it’s like to be a woman in today’s society. I find it an honour to be a young woman in this world. I think women are faced with so many obstacles. I really do think women are the architects of society. We are mothers, daughter, sisters, cousins, friends, etc. Our maternal instinct takes care of the world. Although women have come along way over the centuries and decades, I still feel that we are not as respected as much as we should be. I have the utmost respect for good men in this world, the ones who do good in this world, are amazing fathers, husbands, brothers, friends, etc. But I still feel women should be respected for all that we do for this world. Like Beyonce once said, it is hard to believe how amazing women really are. The most amazing woman in my life is my mother, she has taught me everything I know and she is absolutely incredible. I encourage all of you to make sure you show how much you love all the special women in your lives, and if you are women to always know your worth. We all should embrace and empower each other because the world really would not spin around if it wasn’t for us. Thank you all for taking the time to read my post!
