What it’s like being a waitress

Hey guys, I’m new to this so it can be a little hard for me to open up and really say how I feel on the internet about certain things.

Today I wanted to talk about something that I’ve been wanting to write about for a while, the restaurant and serving industry.  I’ve been a waitress for about five years now and I have met some of the nicest people ever but I’ve also met some of the worst people ever.

I’ve had people think they can talk to myself and other servers in a degrading way, they’ve yelled at us for little things like not putting enough ice in their cup, or they wanted light butter on their toast and they think the chef put too much butter, for not taking their orders fast enough, I could go on but I’d be here all day.

Recently someone ordered takeout and we didn’t have tap so they left without paying and they wrote a review about it, some people are just like that, rude, arrogant, and entitled.

Being a waitress can be fun, but it is also emotionally draining and physically exhausting. It’s not as easy as people make it seem to be. Not everyone tips, not everyone is nice, not everyone is understanding, and we just have to accept that.

I just can’t comprehend how people think they can treat other people sometimes. I’m not writing this to whine or complain, but I’m writing this so people can kind of understand how hard it can be to be a server because I think our work is underrated.

On the bright side, we do meet some amazing people who make the job worth it. I appreciate those people more than they’ll ever know.

Thanks for listening guys, I know this post was short and kind of rant-like but when I started this blog I told myself to try to be as raw and open with my readers as much as I can, and that is what I’m doing. Thanks again for reading guys.
