4 beautiful red lipsticks for olive skin

Hey guys, I wanted to share with you guys some very beautiful red lipsticks for olive skin, there are so many good brands and pretty shades of red but I narrowed it down to four!

MAC Ruby Woo-

This colour doesn’t just look good on olive skin, it’s pretty flattering on all skin tones. It’s a bit more of a blue-red in my opinion and it’s a very pretty colour. It’s one of MAC’s most popular red lipstick shades, and for good reason.

Nars velvet matte lip-mysterious red

This lip pencil is such a pretty shade of red, on the website it says it’s crimson red. It looks very warm but bright on olive skin tones, you can really play it up if you use lip liner on your lips first.

Laura Mercier Velour Lip Colour – Foreplay

This colour is a very unique shade of red. It has a very velvety smooth satin but matte finish. It’s a gorgeous red. It compliments olive skin tones very well.

Smashbox- be legendary-Made it

This shade is a darker slightly burgundy red. It’s more of an intense dark edgy red and I find it has more blue undertones in it. If you’re going for a darker vibe, this colour would be a good choice. The colour lasts very long and the quality is pretty good. It has a matte finish to it.

These are but a few gorgeous red lipsticks for olive skin! We all have different skin tones so play around guys and just have fun finding shades that work with your skin! What are your favourite makeup brands? Also, I just recently purchased the Huda beauty nude palette and I will be doing a review on it very soon, maybe I’ll post a vlog on it as well. I’ll also be posting more since summer is just around the corner 🙂 I’m also trying to learn to properly put photos in my posts so it’s more engaging and there are visual representations for everyone 🙂

My five tips for healthy hair

Hi everyone, I’m going to share tips with you guys that really helped me nurse my hair back to health. In high school, my hair suffered from dryness and I never knew why, I took care of it pretty good but it could have been a mix of not using the best products for my hair as well as hormonal imbalance because high school is a time when we all go through puberty. A few amazing shampoos and other good suggestions later my hair is a lot healthier, softer, and thicker.

These are my tips for healthier hair:

Tip #1: Get regular hair trims

I know some people may want to keep their hair nice and long but getting regular trims is important to get rid of split ends, you don’t have to cut off a lot, just a small amount every month or two helps keep your hair healthy.

Tip #2: Don’t shampoo your hair every day

I know it’s nice to have your hair feeling all clean and pretty but try not to wash your hair every day because your hair produces important essential oils that are necessary to condition and protect your hair.

Tip #3: Try to limit heat on hair

Straightening and applying direct intense heat on your hair can damage your hair’s hydrogen bonds. It can be very damaging and can dry out your hair. Try to limit the use of hair appliances on your hair as much as you can.

Tip #4: Best shampoo for your hair

It took me forever to find good shampoos that actually worked to make my hair soft and healthy. My hair is very particular on the shampoos that it likes and luckily I found some great shampoos that keep my hair healthy and soft. I’ll put some links below to some of my favourite shampoos that work wonders on my hair. But please remember guys that we all have different hair types so these shampoos may not work for your hair the same as it did for mine, but it’s worth a shot because these shampoos really did make my hair healthy again after a long time.

Tip #5: Do not rub your hair dry

This may sound obvious guys, but treat your hair like silk! Rubbing your hair dry will break it and damage it. Try to gently squeeze the water out of your hair or get one of those microfibre towels (they’re amazing, especially for curly hair).

I have naturally curly hair and I know a lot of my curly hair girls will understand how hard it is to keep our hair moisturized, straight hair retains moisture a lot easier. Using proper shampoos and products for our hair is extremely important. I also have some natural hair mask recipes that help keep my hair healthy, but I will share that another time 🙂

These are some of my favourite shampoos and links to microfibre towels 🙂

September is childhood cancer month

Hi everyone, today I wanted to talk about something very important. As many of you know, last month was September, and September is childhood cancer month. It is a very emotional month and I think more people should be aware of what people advocate about childhood cancer.

I follow a family on Instagram, who lost their four-year-old daughter named Ellie and it was very heartbreaking watching their story over Instagram. I don’t know them personally, but I can tell they are a very strong family and that Ellie had a very strong and sweet spirit.

Sadly, childhood cancer only gets 4% of funding from cancer research. I wonder why childhood cancer only gets 4% funding when it is the most common death by disease for Canadian children. I am not just advocating for Canadian children, but children all over the world who have been victims of this horrible disease.

My heart truly aches for these children and their families, I don’t think anyone could truly imagine the pain of these children and their loved ones, God forbid. Some of these families have a hard time financially being able to finance cancer treatments, not only that but they have to take time off work to take care of their child. That is why I encourage everyone to do research on cancer and be aware of what is going on, I know one day we can and will find a cure for this horrible ugly disease that is affecting adults and children alike.

One very important topic I wanted to talk about in my article, is this little boy named Preston. He is a little boy with cancer, and his family is asking for financial help with bills. I think they would ever so appreciate it everyone could give as much as they could to help. Please go to this link to donate: www.teamlillyfoundation.org/for-preston/

You guys, it would mean the world to me if you could donate to help Preston and his family. There are so many families that need our help. This disease is real and it is affecting individuals and families all over the world, people think they can turn a blind eye to it but cancer is evil.

Thank you, everyone.

My journey to Sri Lanka

Hi guys! I went to Sri Lanka over the summer and I wanted to share my experience with you! I wrote this article for my friend for his beach website, as I am the only person he knows who has been to Sri Lanka, which by the way has some of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see! I will put a link to his website below if you’re interested in looking at his website 🙂

Sri Lanka is one of those countries that brings you so much warmth that you’re filled to the brim with joy and peace. When I went there this past summer, it changed my perspective on a lot of things. People in North America stress too much about little things and let it ruin their day, I’m guilty of that sometimes too if we’re being completely honest. Feeling that ocean breeze and just relaxing on the beach brought me an immense amount of happiness and peace. People even catch live fish their and they can cook it there too, it is delicious. When you eat live fish compared to frozen or store-bought fish, you’ll never want to eat fish bought from the grocery store ever again. One of the beaches I went to was Galle Face Green beach. The entire Galle face strip was filled with thousands of people, tourists and local residents alike. The strip was filled with food vendors selling chicken. Fish, popcorn, nuts, etc. They were also selling souvenir items like magnets and t-shirts to name a few. When I went into the ocean I could immediately tell how salty the water was just by the smell and feel of the water. The current was so strong and the waves were getting bigger and bigger as the day went on. It’s not everyday one gets to be in the Indian ocean, and I was enjoying every bit of it. The beaches near the resorts were quite different compared to the Galle Face beach. The beaches in the resorts were breathtaking. One truly can’t even begin to imagine how beautiful these beaches were unless they’re there and experience it themselves. If you like tropical islands, then you will think this is paradise. The palm trees, the blue ocean, the beautiful light sand, I’ve been to Cuban beaches before that were beautiful but this was an entirely different breathtaking experience altogether. If you want to stay at a resort, there are a few options. You can stay at a resort hotel or you can stay in a villa. If you stay in a villa it is like staying in your own little house, it is really cool. Not to mention the food at the resorts was amazing. There are even beaches where you can go whale and dolphin watching! Unfortunately I never got to go whale and dolphin watching, but next time I go to Sri Lanka I will have to experience that. It’s a long trip to go to Sri Lanka from Canada, but it is well worth it. The food, the people, the atmosphere, everything is just amazing there. I love Canada, but Sri Lanka was a nice getaway from reality. As beautiful of a country, Canada is, the beaches in Canada are not comparable to the beaches in Sri Lanka. The warm deep blue water, the beautiful sand and the palm trees everywhere, the atmosphere is completely different. Sri Lanka is so filled with warm and kind people, and it just made the trip that much more special.

I hope you guys liked my article! I always have so much sharing stuff with you guys 🙂

The Nun

Hey guys, today I wanted to give my review of the movie The Nun. It’s a movie that is part of the conjuring series, a series that I’m a fan of. I love horror movies!

The movie starts off pretty spooky, with two nuns walking into a scary dark room in front of a door with the words “God ends here”. I’m not going to talk too much about what happens in the movie as to not spoil it for you guys. I think the movie is good, in all honesty, I wish there was a better backstory, but the movie was still scary. That demon nun is really scary, definitely something you see in your nightmares.

The movie is slightly humorous, which is always nice. Also, the lead actress in the movie Taissa Farmiga who plays sister Irene is sisters with the actress who plays Lorraine Warren, Vera Farmiga, in real life! Maybe in the next movie in the series they will connect the characters together, especially considering both their characters have visions, which is really cool. I’m sure the creators of the movie did that on purpose.

Overall, I think it was an entertaining movie, I was definitely a little scared driving back home alone after watching the movie in the theatres later in the night! I wish they made the storyline and the backstory a little more interesting but it was still a good movie, some scenes were really intense like the scene where all the nuns come together and pray, that was one of the really good scenes, if you watch the movie you’ll know why!

Thanks for reading guys! I would’ve talked a bit more about the movie but I don’t want to spoil it! I would love to hear your comments on the movie and whether you liked it or not! What were your favourite scenes?

What it’s like being a waitress

Hey guys, I’m new to this so it can be a little hard for me to open up and really say how I feel on the internet about certain things.

Today I wanted to talk about something that I’ve been wanting to write about for a while, the restaurant and serving industry.  I’ve been a waitress for about five years now and I have met some of the nicest people ever but I’ve also met some of the worst people ever.

I’ve had people think they can talk to myself and other servers in a degrading way, they’ve yelled at us for little things like not putting enough ice in their cup, or they wanted light butter on their toast and they think the chef put too much butter, for not taking their orders fast enough, I could go on but I’d be here all day.

Recently someone ordered takeout and we didn’t have tap so they left without paying and they wrote a review about it, some people are just like that, rude, arrogant, and entitled.

Being a waitress can be fun, but it is also emotionally draining and physically exhausting. It’s not as easy as people make it seem to be. Not everyone tips, not everyone is nice, not everyone is understanding, and we just have to accept that.

I just can’t comprehend how people think they can treat other people sometimes. I’m not writing this to whine or complain, but I’m writing this so people can kind of understand how hard it can be to be a server because I think our work is underrated.

On the bright side, we do meet some amazing people who make the job worth it. I appreciate those people more than they’ll ever know.

Thanks for listening guys, I know this post was short and kind of rant-like but when I started this blog I told myself to try to be as raw and open with my readers as much as I can, and that is what I’m doing. Thanks again for reading guys.

Easy salmon and eggs brunch recipe

Hey guys! Today I wanted to share a recipe with you guys! I found this recipe on youtube and I thought some of my fellow salmon lovers would be interested in it! I love salmon and I wanted a breakfast recipe with salmon incorporated into it, so I guess this would be considered a brunch recipe considering salmon is more of a lunch or dinner meal.

This recipe is very easy and simple!

This is all you need:

6 oz of salmon (or however much salmon you would like)

6 eggs

Two teaspoons of cream (this optional, but it does give the eggs a nice rich texture)

A few sprigs of dill (also optional but it does give a nice flavour)

So what you guys have to do is:

1. Clean and cut the salmon into medium chunks.

2. On a low-medium heat, lightly fry the salmon, some people like to put some seasoning or salt and pepper on the salmon, but for this recipe, I don’t put any seasoning on it.

3. Cook the salmon for about five minutes, until it is an opaque colour.

4. When the salmon is almost fully cooked, add in the beaten eggs.

5. Scramble the eggs nicely, and when the eggs are a little cooked but still very moist, add a splash of cream and continue scrambling.

6. Stir in some dill!

Guys this recipe is so easy yet so delicious for a nice little brunch. I know smoked salmon is a bit more popular but this is a delicious twist!

Try this recipe if you’d like and let me know how you liked it in the comments or on my Instagram! Thanks again for reading guys!

*Disclaimer: This is not my photo, this  is a photo I found online from food network, this photo uses smoked salmon instead of fresh salmon, but this is essentially what the recipe looks like*

Emotional health

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to talk about ways to ensure and heal your emotional health. Emotional health is just as important as mental, and physical health. These tips are things that I’ve learned throughout my life and that I’ve learned from other people. They may some obvious, but sometimes you just need to hear it.

1.  Cut out all the negative people in your life.

Guys, I can’t stress this enough. Cutting out negative people who bring you down creates a huge difference in your life. You’ll be surprised as to how much happier and freer you’ll feel. I know it’s hard but it will make you feel so much better

2.  Think positive

People who think negative thoughts are not going to have positive lives. When you change your thoughts, you change your life. Those who want different results, but are doing the same thing over and over again, are living in a world of insanity (I believe Albert Einstein said something along the same lines). If people truly realized the power of the brain, we would never want to think a negative thought again.

3.  Exercise

Exercise is not only good for your body, but it is good for your mind and soul. Exercising releases serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine which helps against the symptoms of stress and depression. Exercise is good for you overall and for every part of your well being.

I know these tips are simple guys but they change your life drastically. You’ll be surprised at how much better you feel about yourself and in general. Also, I am going to try to post at least once a week. Sorry for not posting as much, I will try to change that. Hope everyone had a great summer!

Plastic Straws

Hi everyone!

There is an issue that I would like to shine some light on, and that is the use of plastic straws.

There are so many reasons why we should decrease the usage of plastic straws and plastic bags. Million of tons of garbage and plastic is thrown into the ocean every year. It is like a garbage truck dumping garbage and plastic into the ocean every minute. There is so much plastic pollution in this world that scientists and researchers have said that in the year 2050, the weight of plastic will outweigh the weight of fish in the ocean.

We can’t burn plastic because burning it creates dangerous dioxide emissions that are very harmful to our health and the environment, so the best way to help stop the pollution of plastic is to stop the high demand for it. This will decrease the production of plastic.

There are small things that we can all do to help this environmental issue, and it will have a large positive impact if we all do our part.

One thing we can all do to help is say no to plastic straws at restaurants and fast food places. If we all do this it will have a tremendously positive impact on our environment. Another thing we can do is use eco-friendly straws such as bamboo straws, paper straws, steel straws, and glass straws. These options are much more eco-friendly. I would probably recommend the bamboo, steel, and glass straws more because they are more durable and reusable than the paper straws. The benefit of paper straws is that they are more easily recyclable than their plastic counterparts. So it’s each person’s preference.

It is so simple to give up plastic straws, but the benefits that the environment reaps from us doing so is amazing.

Thank you, everyone, for taking the time to read my post, I am going out of the country in a few weeks so I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures and show all of you guys the beauty of Asia 🙂

My five tips to becoming more eco-friendly

Hey everyone! As you guys get to know me, you will realize that one thing I am very passionate about is the environment! I love doing my part in helping the environment in any way that I can. I wanted to share a few easy tips with you guys so that you guys can see how easy it is to help the environment too! If everyone does small things to help the environment, we can make a huge difference, and make our beautiful earth as green and healthy as we possibly can! Here are five easy tips to be more eco-friendly:

  1. Recycle more!

Recycling is a very effective way to help the environment. So much paper and plastic products go to waste every day, many of these products can be reused and this causes less strain on the environment. In today’s day and age, many people can go days without using pieces of paper because most people are tech-savvy and use their phones and computers in replace of paper. If you absolutely have to use paper, please make sure to recycle! As for plastic water bottles, they are easily replaceable with reusable water bottles!

2. Get a compost bin!

Compost bins are a great way to help the environment and reduce your garbage! If you have a garden, compost bins are great to have, the waste in there is great for healthy soil! This a great tip for gardeners. Compost waste helps plants grow better and healthier.

3. Purchase eco-friendly light bulbs!

Next time you go out to buy light bulbs, buy eco-friendly light bulbs! Eco-friendly light bulbs (compact fluorescent lamps and light emitting diodes) use less energy and can last much longer (in many cases at least five times longer) than traditional light bulbs. By doing this you can reduce your carbon footprint by 450 pounds a year! This not only helps the environment, but it can also help your energy bill!

4. Take shorter showers!

Taking shorter showers can really help reduce overall water consumption, and therefore the environment! You can install a low-flow shower head which uses less water than a standard showerhead. Even taking showers that are just five minutes shorter than your average showers, can help immensely. This not only helps the environment but also reduces your water bill!

5. Plant trees and flowers!

This has got to be my favourite tip that I am giving you guys! Taking the time to plant a few flowers, plants, or a tree can do so much good for this world. In our world today, everything is run by the economy and making a profit, and in many cases, our environment has to pay the price. With many trees being cut down for various reasons, two of them being to make paper and cardboard as well as to make room to build houses and other buildings, it is damaging our environment. Planting trees has so many benefits, such as providing homes for birds, squirrels, and other small animals, as well as absorbing carbon dioxide and other harmful gases while releasing oxygen into the air. Planting plants such as flowers help bees, and right now especially this is very important because bee populations are declining, so planting some flowers in your garden would be a great start to helping the environment and the bees!

Thank you everyone so much for reading my five quick tips to being more eco-friendly! I learned these tips from people, the internet, as well as other helpful sources! Once again, I appreciate you all taking the time to read my post, and remember to take baby steps with being eco-friendly, you don’t have to all of this right away, but trying to incorporate these tips into your daily life would help the environment so much, so let’s all work together to make our beautiful planet green and healthy again 🙂 Thank you everyone!
